American Pastoral

It is unforntunate that this film has received so many poor reviews. This post differs with those reviews. The story follows an upstanding, affluent married couple whose daughter devolves into an anti-war radical hellbent on subverting U.S. domestic authority.

The directorial debut of Ewan Mcgregor is excellent. The script is well written and the screenplay is laid out with precision. The persistent  hunt by the devoted  father for his daughter is suspenseful.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

The writing in this movie was terrible. The dialogue was strained and the script was childish.

While some of the backdrops between live action scenes were straight from the nation's capitol and New Orleans, the live action scenes themselves took place on movĂe sets that were grossly  obvious.

Jack Reacher in the first movie was an interesting character. Here, there was no character development and the entire persona and circumstances seemed unrealistic (He manages to hitchhike across the country like a nomad with no money in his wallet and an expired ID).

If you liked the first one this one will likely not bolster your affection for the character.
